why I am straight edge and always will be
As a teenager I had all the “right” personality traits to become a drug addict.
I suffered from severe anxiety, social anxiety and depression. My body and muscles were constantly tense, (which gave a lot of physical pain) I had no self esteem nor self confidence of any kind. Many people with my similar problems ended up addicted to drugs, either prescription drugs or illegal ones.
However I was lucky enough that it didn’t happen to me, the reason was: MUSIC.
I fell in love with music at a very young age. I always responded positively when positive music was played around me.
When I became a teenager and had my first portable cassette player, (this was the late 90s early 00s, the internet wasn’t that popular yet, nor used for music). I started deciding which kind of music I wanted to listen to, and I always got a “high” from my favorite songs.
Around the age of 12 I got even closer to music, by actually starting to write my own melodies and songs on my electric keyboard.
I was lucky enough that life gave me music instead of drugs and alcohol…
