Ever since I was able to overcome my years of anxieties, I have been trying to find the reason why so many of us, especially young people suffer from it.
I recently found a really good quote about anxiety: “your nervous system was designed for a world that no longer exists”.
Meaning, we live in such an unnatural society that our bodies and minds didn’t have the time to adapt to it healthily.
The only way the mind can react to this mess is by having anxiety and panic attacks.
THE CONSEQUENCES OF A SUCCESSFUL CAREER ON THE MENTAL HEALTH OF WOMEN.
A few years ago during my recovery from my nervous breakdown I went to yoga and relaxation classes.
There were 8 women there between 30 and 40 years old and then that was me, in my mid 20s.
Six of these women were successful bad a*s career women driving expensive sport cars and living the successful life.
I was somewhat impressed and proud of them for what they had achieved in their lives, but also I was curious as to why were they there?
As we all introduced ourselves, all six of these women admitted that they were suffering from anxiety, body tension (mild forms of fibromyalgia) and sleeping problems.
Neither of them really admitted it was their jobs causing these problems, but they felt something wasn’t right with them and they just couldn’t relax, ever.
ALSO, HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT MOST 20 YEAR-OLDS SUFFER FROM ANXIETY?
I had just come back from London where in the university I attended, quite a lot of students my age (I was 25 at the time), had anxiety and depression problems.
In my class I just had asked everyone to please be understanding with me, because I was going through personal health problems.
After that request of mine several of my mates asked me what was my problem, If I wanted to share.
I told them about my anxiety, social anxiety and depression problems.
Literally one after the other they confessed to me that they had same problems!
I was shocked and honestly worried.
IS THIS TODAY’S YOUTH?
Where in our early 20s we suffer from serious health issues?
All the while we are called lazy and spoiled if we can’t keep up with the insane demands of an out of control job market?
I am just curious, am I the only one that finds this outrageous and preoccupying?
Where young people, who should be the healthiest and somewhat happiest, are actually the ones that suffer the most?
Even back home in my circle of friends one after the other they started telling me about their anxiety and panic attack problems.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
In the prime of our lives we are actually really ill…
WE ARE IN A DESPERATE NEED OF A RADICAL CHANGE IN OUR SOCIETY OR WE ARE NOT GOING TO LIVE LONG OR ANYWAY HEALTHY.
This is the list of illnesses today’s 20 year-olds suffer from:
As taking by Dr. Mercola’s website.
Autoimmune diseases (of various types)
WHAT IS THE MAIN CAUSE?
An unnatural lifestyle that causes chronic stress.
In a state of continuous stress the body can’t keep up with the demands and it starts destroying itself and its own tissues.
What is the stressed caused by?
Literally everything that surrounds us, from unstable family backgrounds, to unresolved emotional traumas and problems, to being over worked, lack of financial and/or emotional safety, especially for women.
Bad sleeping habits (no, partying ‘till late it’s never been a good idea, not even for 20 year-olds).
Bad eating habits, lack of vital nutrients like VITAMINS and MINERALS.
Too much exposure to EMFs, (electromagnetic fields), like smartphones, wifis, computers, electric cars…we live in an ocean of EMFs.
Not enough time spent in nature, not enough time spent doing nothing but relaxing in quiet calm environments.
Mental overdrive by overstimulation of informations of any kind, too much worrying about the future.
We are constantly in survival mode, that’s what stress is about.
We are always in the “FIGHT OR FLIGHT” response, which only worked to our advantage in the wild. Where dangers would occur probably once at month.
Now we are in that physical and mental state 24/7!
I think…maybe…it’s time to change.
As Dr. Mercola writes on his website, (www.mercola.com) “today’s youth will be the first generation to live a shorter life than their parents.”
So yeah, it’s definitely time to change.
