I was 21 years old when I started feeling the first symptoms of fibromyalgia.
I remember waking up in the morning and feeling really stiff. My neck was especially aching and I could barely move it.
It took me several hours, to feel somewhat better after getting out of bed. My mind was foggy almost all the time, and my thoughts were racing, I was always tired and dreained of energy. I often looked for a place where to lie down and rest.
As the years went by, I started feeling worse and worse. There were times when I couldn’t even sleep at night, because of the neck and back pain.
Then the pain started intensifying and even during the day I was in constant pain…
Mainly my neck and my back, until my whole body was hurting almost all the time, everyday and even every night.
If someone touched me, even in a gentle way, it would hurt as if they had punched me.
Emotional stress made my fibromyalgia worse, as I was tensing up physically.
AT 25 YEARS OLD I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH FIBROMYALGIA.
At this point in my life I could barely live. I was lying in bed all day unable to do anything except, get out of bed to eat.
I often couldn’t eat because my stomach was so tense from the fibromyalgia. I felt like my stomach didn’t have space to contain food.
At times I felt like giving up…life…
I couldn’t bare the excruciating pain my body was in ALL THE TIME!
But I am not the kind of person that gives up! I started searching everywhere for a cure.
Official medicine suggested opioid based painkillers, alternative people advised me cannabis with high CBD content.
But neither of these substances cure. They only make the symptoms go away for a few hours and that’s it. Everything comes back once the effect wears off.
I wanted so desperately a cure, so I would never again feel that unbearable pain.
I read thousands and thousands of articles and research, but they always said “there’s no cure”.
I DIDN’T WANT TO ACCEPT THE ASNWER OF “THERE’S NO CURE TO FIBROMYALGIA”.
Then, one day I stumbled across a certain type of massage.
It was a specific type of massage! That’s all it was, the simplest thing. A massage was the cure for my fibromyalgia. I almost couldn’t believe it was so simple.
Not just any type of massage, this specific one was the only thing that worked for me.
For two years I regularly had this type of massage done on me every week. Non invasive, therefore no needles in my arms, no surgeries and no pills either.
I was 27 years old when I had the last session of this massage.
By then I had been feeling literally reborn. I was so light and relaxed physically like I was floating on air. My mind was clear, my thoughts were not racing anymore, I could concentrate so deeply and well.
I had never in my entire life felt so well.
My life was changed completely. I was feeling so comfortable in my body all the time!
Ever since then I have been sleeping really well, no pain anywhere. I don’t wake up in the middle of the night with neck pain, in fact I don’t wake up in the middle of the night at all.
I fall asleep within 5 minutes and I wake up rested and full of energy every morning. Most importantly nothing aches, I am completely relaxed in my body.
I said to myself “So, this is how it feels to be healthy.”
Then, I can honestly say that I haven’t felt healthy since I was born. Up until the age of 27.
I recently wrote this song for my mom, to thank her for all the years she stood by me. While I was struggling with fibromyalgia, depression and anxiety. I couldn have not done it without her.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE EFFECTED BY FIBROMYALGIA?
It is estimated that at least 14 million people suffer from fibromyalgia in the western side of the world, including famous people like the singer Sinead O’Connor and Lady Gaga, actors Morgan Freeman and Susan Flannery.
